René Izquierdo: The Solo Concert

His solo recitals bring together all of René’s diverse influences to create flowing musical statements that are known to create windows into the soul of present audiences.

Striving to illuminate and expand the possibilities of the guitar, René merges the magic of the intimacy of the guitar with his storytelling skills, while reprising music from his 30+ years of his life as a performer.

Guest Soloist with Symphonies

Rene has appeared as a guest soloist throughout the United States, Central America, Asia, and Europe. As an experienced concert soloist, René constantly delivers technical command together with a depth of musical expression. 

He has played all major guitar concertos. His broad repertoire ranges from Rodrigo’s beloved Concierto de Aranjuez and Giuliani’s Op. 30 to other lesser-known concertos of the 20th century. Various world premieres have been dedicated to him.

Chamber Music

René is passionate about chamber music and regularly puts together original recital projects that bring him often on international tours. His duos and chamber music performances are marked with a great sense of color, balance, and refinement, making way to a unique listening experience. 

For 2021, some of Rene’s collaborations and new programs include: 

René & Ransom Wilson

Partnering with renowned grammy-nominated flautist Ransom Wilson the program features french music favorites, as well as staple pieces of flute and guitar repertoire. 

René &  Clea Galhano

A unique duo with Brazil’s virtuoso recorder player features beloved pieces from Latin Reverie, their celebrated program and most recent recording project together. 

René & Carlo Aonzo

This classical duo has toured the world, recorded CDs together, and thrilled audiences with their performances featuring Bach, Calace, Vivaldi, as well as beloved Cuban and Latin music.  

René & Elina Chekan

A musical partnership like no other, this duo presents performances that serve the music above all and feel like an intimate conversation as an extension of their love for each other.

This presentation will cover the intricacies of guitar building as well as a guide to what to look for when navigating the market for a new guitar.
